Religious Excercise and Family Sancticty Protection Ordinance Petition

We the people of Pine Bluff herebye petition the city council of Pine Bluff to pass a city ordinance to close all businesses within Pine Bluff on Sundays. We Support this petition and the proposed ordinance for the following reasons:

1. We believe in upholding Christian principles and our Christian heritage as Americans. In the Christian faith Sunday is the Lord's day and is to be observed as a day of rest and religious devotions and worship. Businesses in the past closed on Sunday out of respect for Christian principles and had a deep respect for the values of the community.

2. We believe in upholding the right of workers to practice their religious beliefs and convictions, a person whould not have to choose between God and his work, being required to work on Sunday is basically requiring a person to choose between their living and their faith and this wrong and needs to be remedied.

3. We believe in protecting the sanctity and the primacy of the family as the most important unit in society. Familis are having less and less time to spend together, parents aren't able to teach their kids as much as they need to, parents and kids don't know each other. The Family is under attack and is being destroyed by modern society. Parents are having to work more and more hours and spending more time away from than ever before, if passed this ordinance would give our struggling familes extra time to spend together, and would strengthen them.

I herebye sign this petition and support this ordinance and humbly request that the city council of Pine Bluff give this petition and the proposed ordinance serious consideration.
